Extension Reflection
Today for extension, me and Simon are now extension term 2 partners and today we finally got to start our presentation! We both created fabulous and interesting questions about Mars and our different perspectives.
I decided to take the questions " What would it feel like to sweat in a different planet" and "Are there any body parts that get oxygen directly from the air and not from the blood?
Stay tuned for more! Check Simon's blog for reflection!

KVCC Leadership Camp
Last week on Tuesday the year 8s set off to our annual year 8 leadership camp at KVCC.
When we pulled up to the camp we were all astonished at the view/sights of the campsite. It had beautiful high mountains, and amazing wildlife. I think we were all excited to be staying here for the next 3 days.
On the first day we got introduced to the campsite and to where all the activities were, we also got to see where our cabins were and who we were going to be sharing it with. I was in a cabin of 12 with all of my friends, and was really excited to be bonding with them even more and making new memories. After all of that we went into the hall to play some team bonding games which made everyone break a sweat.
My next highlight takes place on the second night which was the concert. My group performing and the riff off we had was another great highlight for me and many others.
I really enjoyed camp and am hoping we get to do something like this similar in college or later on this year. Thank you to all the people who made this possible.

Mars information Report
Did you know that Mars holds the largest mountain in the world? It is 3 times the size of Mount Everest. Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. It is the second most inhabitable planet in the solar system. It is similar in a few ways to earth such as, the planet isn’t too hot or too cold. It is farther from the sun than earth which makes it a bit colder than usual which will definitely have an effect on our body systems.
Did you also know that Mars actually has two moons? The names of these moons are Phobos, and Diemos. Phobos is a bit bigger than Deimos and orbits only 6,000km above the Martian surface. Phobos orbits around Mars about 3 times a day while the more distance Diemos takes around 30-35 hours for each orbit.
I hope after reading this information report you learned a few facts about our amazing and interesting planet, Mars. Who knows we may even end up living there on day.

Team Challenges
Today in class we were asked to build something that would float and hold a plastic animal. Today I worked with a group I was unfamiliar with which ended up being really cool. My groups weird looking ship was very different to everyone else which I felt was really cool. Our teams ship actually survived and floated which was a huge success. here is a photo of my group down below.

Mathletics T2 Week 1
Today in class did Mathletics. We got into groups but the twist was we had to be with people that we don't really know so that we can practice our problem solving skills with new people. My buddy's for this tasks were Bradley, Finau, and Lee. We worked together and actually had a really good time. In the beginning of this task I felt nervous to speak because I don't really know these people that well, but towards the end I felt a lot more comfortable with this group, as if I had just made some new friends. I am hoping to do something like this a lot more this term.

Watch This Space W1
Immersion assembly
This term the theme is " Watch this space", which is all about outer space and planets. Today at school we had an immersion assembly to share what each would be learning about this term. My favorite of the day was team 4 and 5.
Team 5's item was also my favorite, because it was very entertaining for everyone!. I really enjoyed the fact that they presented REALLY well, and how they "travelled" to different planets on the "Magic School Bus". Yeah that was my high light of all!.\
My next favorite part was team fours movie, which was based on the movie called “Guardians of the Galaxy”. It was really funny especially when Mr. Hughes was dancing, it was a really cringy and funny dance. I believe they’re focusing on earth and its systems, like the ozone layer and more!
