Lunch with the Prime Minister

Today was a very special day for the year 3, 4, and 7&8 because we got a visit from the Prime Minister (Jacinda Ardern) of New Zealand. Since yesterday I was at softball I had no idea this was happening. We started the day off like any other day but then we got informed that the Prime Minister, which is one of the most important people in New Zealand, was coming to have lunch with us. She came here because of an email that some of the students at Pt England wrote to her all about the amazing yummy lunches.

Right when she walked through the doors we were in the middle of singing. Right when we finished that song we sat down in silence with big, happy, and welcoming smiles. She was really inspiring and said a lot of amazing quotes for us. One of them was " You don't have to be old for us to care about what you think, because we do care" another one was " If you think you can't do something think of me" she said this because she didn't think she could do all the work that a Prime Minister goes through but she tried it and ended up doing an outstanding job.

Then after all the amazing speeches from both Mr Burt and the Prime Minister we all said grace then went back to our classes to eat lunch. She rotated around our space and talked about how the lunches were. She came to room 4 and spent most of her time with us which was such a blessing.

The Deca Tree

🌳The Deca Tree This is Day 12 challenge... - The Maths Forest | Facebook

Today during Maths we did a question called The Deca tree, as you can see above. Our Maths class also learned that study's have shown that people who get thing right in Maths brains don't grow but people who make mistakes brains do grow. Which basically tells us that giving people easier work is bad and you have to be challenged so that your brain will grow. Me and my group worked really well together but didn't actually get a real answer but were on the right track.

Quote Painting

Today I finished my Quote painting. My quote was "If you want to see the rainbow you have to put up with the rain" I chose that quote because I believe it is true. You have to put up with the hard things in life in order to be successful.  My background of my painting is different shades of blue. I guess I picked this to represent the bad side of everything, I was planning on doing the other side bright colors but unfortunately didn't have enough time. I hoped that putting the stars on it would represent the good side coming through. This is a very simple thing to make if you would want to make it at home.

About Me 2021

Talofa Lava my name is Jane and I am now a year 8 at Pt England school. This year I was chosen to be house captain with a few friends. Also this year I have Mrs Stone for both home class and maths, and for literacy I have Mr Moran.

My hobbies are playing sports such as Cricket, Softball, Netball, Touch, and Rugby, spending time with family and friends, going to Church on Sundays to thanking the lord for all the things he has done for us.

I also enjoy Reading and Writing. Writing helps me get away into my own imagination. Writing also helps me understand people's perspectives as well as reading. Reading helps me calm down, I usually read a book at night to help me fall asleep. It also helps me get better words for writing.

I am Samoan and Tokelau. I love having my parents who are very cultured to tell me about all the things in Tokelau and Samoa. I love hearing legends and myths about my cultures because they are always very interesting. I have visited Samoa before and have seen a lot of amazing landscapes in the time I was there.

As this year is my last at Pt England I am trying to make the most of my time here. I am setting very high goals for myself this year and I expect to achieve most of them. Can’t wait to see what my future holds.
