Attitude talk

Today the year 7 & 8 girls and boys had a separated meeting about puberty. This lovely lady names Jannah came in to talk to the girls. She was very kind and tried her best to make us comfortable. She talked to us about a lot of things, but the thing that stood out for me was when she was talking about our self esteem. She was talking about how she thinks once we hit puberty our self confidence kind of goes down. She also talked about setting high standards and self value. As an example she pulled out a 5 dollar note and asked which one of us wanted it, of course we all put our hands up, but then she stopped and started saying mean words about the 5 dollar note and again asked who wanted it, and again we all put our hands up, finally she scrunched it up and for the last time asked which on of us wanted it, and again we all put our hands up. She then asked why we still wanted it and most of us said "well, because its 5 dollars", she then began to talk about how just because you said mean things to it and scrunched it up doesn't mean it lost its worth. I found that lesson, rather inspiring. Jannah is thinking of coming in on Tuesday next week which I am hoping she is. It was really fun hanging out with all the girls and it was also amazing that it was a safe place to share.
