Our Moment

Today is our moment. Today at Pt England school for Maori Language week we as a whole school stood up to sing a song. We did it because at 12:00pm on the 14th of September 1972 30,000 people signed a petition to keep their cultures alive. They signed the petition because back in the days they were not allowed to speak their language at school, and since they were there a lot English became their first language. Also when they had their children English also became their language too and that led people to believe that their culture was slowly dying.
