Then we had to try write those sentences. Then on slide 4 I had to read a story and then write how I felt about the opening, then write some things I could use in my own writing. Then on the very last slide I wrote my own introduction as to why I think people protest.

Why do you think people protest

Introduction: Why do you think people protest? Well they do it to get their rights for them, their families, their race, the colour of their skin, or their culture. People protest about many things and this report will give you more information as to why protests have been going on for over 150 years.

What is a protest?

A protest is an objection or complaint. Often, protests are when people try to get others attention by marching through streets, holding signs with very deep messages on them, and also chanting words. This type of protest is called a march, but people also meet, rally, strike or sign a petition. Protests are normally peaceful and usually get people's attention. But some can lead to disaster.

What causes a protest: A protest can be caused by a lot of things like people not agreeing with others, people not being treated fairly, women/men's rights, and stuff like that. Usually they protest when they want to change something. Like the story of Kate Sheppered. She set up a petition for all women to sign for the government to see how many women wanted to change. And in the end she actually got justice for her and all the other women in New Zealand. It was actually a world's first.

In conclusion people protest to get their rights, get their voices heard, and to make a change.

School assembly

Today we had assembly for the first time in 98 days. It was fun to see everyone in person and not on a screen. It was actually really weird for me because seeing everyone was really different and we actually got to sit next to each other.

Today the whole school honored Mr Burt for his award that he got from the queen. There are a small number of people in New Zealand that have this award and we are all very very proud of him. The senior block sang a beautiful song for him and then the whole school stood up and sang another song.

I was getting a bit emotional while singing the song because Mr Burt has done a lot of things for my family. He helped pay for my Chromebook and he also taught my dad, all my dad’s brothers, and both my dad's sister. They all have moved on with their lives and now are bringing their kids to Pt England.

So on behalf of me and my family I would like to say thank you for everything.
