Walt: Recognise shapes and sides.





Task description: In this task we got given a shape and we had to try and make it look as close to the shape that we got given. It was hard because we didn't know exactly where to put each line but I tried my best an I think that it looks kinda similar.

Stetting Description

Walt:  Write a detailed account. 




Task description: So first we got given this task and we had to write a detailed and year 6 way to describe the pictures. The first picture that I decided to do was the candy house I think that was my favourite one to do. The second one that I did was the haunted house that was my second favourite. Last but not lease is the castle on the water. I kind of didn't like that one but I did at the same time because it was difficult to find a story that would fit it properly but it challenged me as well.

Task Description:  So firstly we got given this task and while I was looking through the task I thought it looked really easy so I got right to work. I got this done really quickly and I enjoyed the time I spent on it.

40 Hour Famine

On Friday some of my friends and I came to school to raise money for people that do not have shelter, food or clean water in South Sudan. We took part in this years 40 Hour Famine. 

When I first entered the school I saw some friends playing and talking in the hall. So I went and started playing dodgeball and then started talking with my friends until they called us all to come and sit down. Mrs Lagitupu told us all that we were going to create an item, we could either sing, dance, or do stand up comedy. So when we got sent away and made up our dance we all came back to the hall to do our items. Me and my group did a dance and we got fourth place. My group and I were very disappointed but then the girls in the other team needed help so me and my cousin Oalii went and helped them win. So in a way we won and lost. 

After the dance battle we got to chose what we did, we could either come in creative space and catch up on some of our work from class, The other two things that we could do we could watch a movie in the staff room or we could stay in the library and sit and talk and play board games. 

After the movie was over and everyone finished what they were doing we all went to the library and went to sleep. 
I really enjoyed doing this because it was fun and it was for a good cause. I hope I have the opportunity to do this again next year. 

Fake Recount

Walt: write a detailed account.

Let me tell you a story of the time I fell asleep at the airport and when I woke up I was in Melbourne. If you want to hear the rest of my paragraphs to see what happens.

So when I went to the airport the plane took so long that I accidentally fell asleep. It felt like I fell asleep for a very long time because when I woke up it was dark and I couldn’t move it felt like I was in a tight dark room. Well that is what I thought.


I soon realised that I was in a suitcase. I couldn't believe it, I was pretty sure it was my evil cousin called Rose. She always does mean stuff to me and I always get the blame.


After a while I started hearing some strange noises. It felt like the noise were getting closer and closer. When the noise finally stopped I felt like I could finally relax. Until I felt a big thump. I was thinking that we had landed and it was right

When I finally escaped the suitcase I found out by asking some people I was in Melbourne which is in Australia. I was furious with my cousin I called her and found out my parents thought that I ran away.

See what I mean I always get the blame for everything my cousin does. When I caught the earliest plane back to Auckland. I got grounded right on the day I came back.

I felt really uncomfortable but I kind of had a good time because I got to visit a different country for the first time and also got to go to visit my aunt's and uncle that lived here.

Term 2 Animation - Directions around our school

This term we have been learning about reading maps and understanding how to use the right directions. My task this term was to create an animation about navigation around our school. We had to give instructions for a visitor to our school and tell them how to get to different locations.

SCREENCASTIFY READING

walt: understand figurative and descriptive language as we read.




Task description:  What I had to do first was read the book aloud to myself then do a Screencastify on the same book. I found this easy but challenging at the same time because I found some Maori words that I didn't really know. But over all I think that this was a really easy task and I loved this book so much and I hope that I can read another book like this soon.
